LEARN TO DRIVE
Private driving lessons in Brooklyn.
Choose a 45-, 60- or 90-minute lesson with an Amethyst instructor. Our office is at 434 Kings Hwy, Brooklyn, NY 11223. Compare packages, confirm your meeting point and select an available time online.
Choose a lesson that fits your starting point
Beginners can start with controls, observation, starting and stopping. Returning drivers may need parking, city traffic or confidence after a break. Tell the team what you can already do and one situation you want to improve so the instructor can plan useful practice.
Compare 45, 60 and 90 minutes
A 45-minute lesson suits a focused skill or assessment. A 60-minute lesson offers more repetition, while 90 minutes allows several connected practice goals. Highway instruction is a separate option and should match your readiness. Compare current prices and durations in Services & Prices.
Practise observation as well as car control
Work on scanning ahead, mirror and shoulder checks, lane position, yielding and complete stops. Parking and turns should remain slow, deliberate decisions rather than memorized movements. The instructor adjusts the route and difficulty to traffic, permit restrictions and your current ability.
Plan your start from Brooklyn
Amethyst has one office at 434 Kings Hwy, Brooklyn, NY 11223. Share your address and service with the office to confirm pickup or another meeting point before travelling. A neighbourhood guide is not a promise of a branch or door-to-door service at every address.
Prepare for your lesson
Bring your valid learner permit or applicable license and any required corrective lenses. Confirm the meeting time and discuss language or car preferences in advance. After the lesson, ask for the main correction, what improved and a clear practice goal for next time.
Keep lessons, courses and test-day help clear
Private driving lessons provide hands-on practice. The live 5-Hour class meets the separate pre-licensing requirement for eligible students. Appointment assistance and a test-day vehicle are additional services unless listed in your package. Compare inclusions before paying so you book the help you actually need.
Choose your lesson length
A 45-minute lesson can focus on a specific goal, such as turns or parking. A 60- or 90-minute lesson gives you more time to combine skills. If you are starting from zero or returning after a break, tell the office about your experience before choosing a service.
Frequently asked questions.
Do I need experience to start?
No. Tell the office you are a beginner and bring the documents required for your lesson. The instructor will plan an appropriate starting point.
Can I choose an instructor or request a car?
Choose from the instructor availability in Booking. Ask the office about language and vehicle preferences; a specific car depends on the service and schedule.
When is the office open?
Office hours are Monday to Friday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Weekend visits are by appointment. Instructors work by appointment from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM. You may call or text at any time; response times vary.
Can I choose a female or Russian-speaking driving instructor?
Yes. You can request a female instructor and instruction in Russian at Amethyst. Anastasia Chebotareva is the school founder and instructor. Choose an available instructor in Booking and confirm the lesson language and suitable time with the office.
Do driving lessons include home pickup and return?
Home pickup and return are arranged in advance for your address and selected service. Provide your full address in Booking and confirm the meeting point with the office. Availability depends on the service area and schedule.
Does an individual lesson include a car for my road test?
Do not assume it does. Check the selected service or package inclusions before payment. Appointment scheduling, preparation lessons and a test-day vehicle can be separate services.
