Parallel parking: learn the movement and the observation.
Parallel parking combines slow vehicle control with watching the space around you. An instructor can help you find reference points that fit the vehicle you drive, rather than relying on a single steering formula for every car.

Choose a suitable practice space
Start with a space that gives you room to practice without rushing. Read the parking signs and check the surroundings before you begin. Practice with the supervision required for your permit and in a properly insured vehicle.
Set up before reversing
Signal your intention, approach slowly and position the car beside the vehicle ahead of the space. Check mirrors and look around for pedestrians, cyclists and approaching traffic. Wait when someone enters the area you need.
Back in with control
Reverse slowly while steering into the space, then straighten and guide the front of the car in. Keep checking your surroundings as the vehicle moves. Vehicle size and starting position affect when you turn; ask your instructor to demonstrate suitable reference points.
Correct safely
Stop if you are unsure about clearance. Use a small forward or backward correction only after checking again, and avoid contact with the curb or other vehicles. Finish with the car positioned safely within the space.
Make a lesson useful
Tell your instructor whether the difficult part is judging space, steering, watching traffic or finishing near the curb. Practice that part first, then repeat the whole maneuver. Compare individual lesson lengths and current packages on our Services page.

Yes. Choose a private lesson and describe the skill you want to practice in your booking notes.
Will the same reference points work in every car?
Vehicle dimensions and your seating position differ. Learn how to judge the maneuver with your instructor in the car you will use.
