You need a valid learner permit or driver license (depending on your case). Bring it with you to your first lesson. If you are not sure what you need, call our office and we will explain.
You can practice with a licensed adult driver who meets NYS requirements. Always drive in safe areas and avoid highways until you feel comfortable and your instructor recommends it.
It depends on your experience, age and how often you practice. Many beginners take 6–10 lessons; experienced drivers may need fewer. Your instructor will recommend a plan after the first lesson.
This is very common. We start in quiet streets, move at your pace and never force you into situations you’re not ready for. Step by step, your confidence will grow.

When you can drive 30–40 minutes in real traffic without instructor help and perform all maneuvers confidently. Your instructor will tell you when you’re ready and help you book the test.
